Individuals must complete a pre-licensing course of study for the lines of authority desired before taking any examination. The pre-licensing course must consist of 20 hours per line of authority on the general principles of insurance for that line of authority. The lines of authority requiring a pre-licensing course are as follows:

• Life – 20 hours
• Accident & Health or Sickness – 20 hours
• Property – 20 hours
• Casualty – 20 hours
• Personal Lines – 20 hours

1. Meet the general eligibility criteria
   • Be at least 18 years of age.
   • Be a resident of or have principal place of business in Oregon


2. Complete required prelicensing education
   • Prepare for the Oregon State Exam by completing a pre-licensing course of study.
   • To satisfy the requirements for your course, you will need to pass a closed-book non-monitored Exam Prep Course Certification Exam with a 70% or greater.
   • When making a licensing exam reservation, applicants will be required to present your Certificate of Completion at your licensing exam. After passing the Exam Prep Course Certification Exam, you will be able to download a PDF Certificate of Completion.


3. Register and pass state licensing exam
   • Make an exam reservation at psiexams.com or by calling (800) 733-9267.
   • Bring two forms of current signature identification (a valid driver’s license, non-driver ID, passport, military ID, or employee ID card, credit card) and your WebCE Certificate of Completion. Applicants need to provide the WebCE pre-licensing provider school code: 4060 at the time of making their licensing exam reservation.
   • PSI is providing remotely proctored testing for the state of Oregon. Student may register to have their licensing exam remotely proctored by visiting the PSI website.

4. Submit fingerprints
   • All first-time individual resident producer and adjuster applicants must be fingerprinted in order to become licensed
   • You can be electronically fingerprinted at one of PSI Oregon sites, during regular testing hours, on the day of your examination. The prints will be forwarded electronically to the appropriate review agencies.


5. Apply for a License
   • After passing your licensing exam and submitting fingerprints, complete the insurance license application online at www.nipr.com.

• Per Oregon PLE requirements, applicants are required to complete all of the lessons and answer each set of end-of-chapter quizzes with a score of at least 70 percent prior to taking an closed-book final exam.
  Please Note: Pre-license education providers are required to record the actual time the applicant spends in the course and not allow access to the certificate of completion until the applicant's time equals the number of required hours for the LOA.
• Students should pass the closed-book final exam with a score of 70% or higher.
• If the final exam is not passed on the first attempt, students have an unlimited number of retakes.
• WebCE suggest to then utilize Exam Tutor and Flash Tutor for further practice before your exam day.

90 days from the date of purchase. One additional extension for an additional 90 days can be purchased for $50.

WebCE does not report exam prep course completions as the Oregon Insurance Division does not require course completions to be reported.

Online PDF certificates of completion are available to print immediately after the final exam is passed. Pre-licensing course certificates are valid for one year from date of completion.

New residents do not need to complete any pre-license education or examination requirements as long as they are:

• Applying for the same lines authority as previous home state license
• The license application is received no more than 90 days after the cancellation of previous home state license and establishment of Oregon residency

Note: For producers who apply for a resident license more than 90 days after establishing legal residence in Oregon, appropriate exams are required. Pre-license training is required for applicants who have less than 3 years of product experience in the lines applied for.

Nonresidents can be licensed to transact insurance in Oregon as producers, adjusters and consultants. Licenses are issued individuals, firms or corporations. If you are already a licensed agent or broker in your home state, you are exempt from the pre-licensing education and examination requirements. You may only conduct your insurance business as an appointed representative of an insurer in Oregon even though licensed as a broker in your home state. Brokering is not permitted in Oregon.
