Licensees may take courses in any line of authority.

When does Michigan Insurance CE have to be completed?

The first day of the licensee's birth month, every 2 years, based on odd/even birth year.

Can Insurance CE courses be repeated?

Courses cannot be repeated more than once in a 2 year license term.

What are the Annuity Training requirements for Michigan?

Annuity Best Interest Training
Hours: 4
Frequency: One-time training of a 4-Hour Annuity Suitability and Best Interest Standards course must be complete prior to selling annuity products.

Residents and non-residents who have completed training including the NAIC Best Interest Standards in another state with laws similar to Michigan law will be deemed compliant with this requirement.

Can Insurance CE course hours carry over to the next renewal cycle?

A maximum of 12 hours can be carried forward to the next review period as general credit. Excess ethics will be carried over as general credit. Courses carried forward will count as a duplicate if completed again in the current renewal cycle.

What is the Michigan Insurance license renewal process?

Resident individual producer licenses are perpetual as long as the licensee is compliant with Continuing Education credit requirements.

What are the WebCE Michigan Insurance CE course requirements?

WebCE courses are classified as online self-study courses.
Students should read through the course material for each course before attempting a final exam.
Self-study exams are closed-book and require a monitor.
Monitor requirements: A disinterested third party minimum age of 18 years who is not a friend and who has no family or financial relationship. Monitors shall NOT serve for examinations of family members or relatives or dependents, employers or supervisors, employees or subordinates, partners or joint ventures or co-owners, or for anyone in whom the monitor or instructor has an economic or other interest in assuring the successful outcome of the examination.
Final exam passing score: 70%
If the final exam is not passed on the first attempt, students have an unlimited number of retakes.

What is the access period for WebCE Michigan Insurance CE courses?

Non-resident licensees who meet CE requirements in their home state are not required to meet Michigan CE requirements.

Are there any CE exemptions?

The following individuals are exempt from CE requirements:

Adjusters, unless they are also licensed in a major line of authority
Individuals licensed only for one or more of the following lines: Credit Products, Limited Life, Turkey, Crop & Hail, Travel, Accident and Baggage, or Title
Individuals who apply for and receive a hardship waiver for military duty or terminal illness or self or immediate family member who requires an ordinate amount of care by licensee

Does Michigan require any workplace compliance training?

Per state regulations, companies are required to provide training to employees for the topics below. WebCE courses can be used to satisfy the training by itself, or in some cases, can include CE credits for your insurance license renewal.

As clarified by FinCEN’s final rulings, the USA PATRIOT Act stipulates that financial services companies involved in the sale of covered products maintain an ongoing training program for all associates who are involved in any sale and administration of covered products.
