How often does WebCE report North Carolina Funeral CE course completions?

  • WebCE courses are online approved self-study courses with non-monitored open-book final exams. Students should read through course material then complete exam.
  • Note: The North Carolina Board of Funeral Service does not permit agents to access the final exam until the student's time in the course equals the number of approved credit hours. The course must be stopped if the student is inactive for more than 10 minutes.
  • Passing score: 70%
  • If the final exam is not passed on the first attempt, students have an unlimited number of retakes.

Online PDF certificates of completion are available to print immediately after the final exam is passed. Licensees should keep all certificates a minimum of 3 years for state auditing purposes.

What are the North Carolina Funeral CE requirements for non-residents?

Non-resident licensees practicing in North Carolina must complete the CE requirement for North Carolina.

Non-resident licensees who are not practicing in North Carolina are not required to take CE for North Carolina.

Are there any CE exemptions?

  • Inactive License (meaning a licensed funeral director who is not currently practicing embalming or funeral directing)
  • Licensees who have been licensed in North Carolina continuously for 25 years or more.
  • A licensee who is issued an initial license does not have to satisfy the continuing education requirement for that year.
