Mortuary Transport

Before becoming a registered transporter, an individual must complete the following Board approved coursework:

OSHA or MOSHA training course
A course on Blood-borne Pathogens and Infection Control
A law course on Health Article §5-513 (The Human Dignity Act)

NOTE: WebCE offers all of the courses applicants must take to become a registered transporter.

Can Funeral CE courses be repeated?

Courses cannot be repeated more than once in a 2 year license term.

Can Funeral CE course hours carry over to the next renewal cycle?

Licensees may carryover up to 3 CE hours.

What is the Maryland Funeral license renewal process?

At least 1 month before a license expires, the Board will send a renewal notice by electronic means or first-class mail to the last known electronic or physical address of the licensee. Funeral professionals are required to report course credit hours earned to Maryland as part of the license renewal process.

What are the WebCE Maryland Funeral CE course requirements?

WebCE courses are online approved self-study courses with non-monitored open-book final exams. Students should read through course material then complete exam.
Passing score: 70%
If the final exam is not passed on the first attempt, students have an unlimited number of retakes.

What is the access period for WebCE Maryland Funeral CE courses?

12 months from the original date of purchase

How often does WebCE report Maryland Funeral CE course completions?

WebCE does not report course completions to the Maryland Board of Morticians and Funeral Directors.

Does WebCE supply a certificate of completion for Maryland Funeral CE courses?

Online PDF certificates of completion are available to print immediately after the final exam is passed. Licensees should keep a copy of each certificate of completion in their records in case of an audit by the Board.

What are the Maryland Funeral CE requirements for non-residents?

Non-resident licensees practicing in Maryland must meet same 12-hour CE requirement as residents to maintain their license.

Are there any CE exemptions?

Licensees who have practiced for at least forty (40) years may notify the Maryland Board of Morticians and Funeral Directors to request an exemption from CE.
First time renewals
Inactive status (a licensed funeral director or mortician who is not currently practicing embalming or funeral directing)
Licensees may request an exemption due to disability or unusual circumstances. Please contact the Maryland Board of Morticians and Funeral Directors for more information.
