What are the CPA CPE requirements for Vermont?

80 hours over the 2 year renewal cycle

Are there any subject area requirements for Vermont CPA CPE?

  • CPA Ethics: 4 hours of ethics CPE
  • Accounting & Auditing CPE: Minimum 8 CPE hours

When does Vermont CPA CPE have to be completed?

8/1 to 7/31 biennially every odd year

Can CPA CPE courses be repeated?

Courses cannot be taken for credit more than once in a 2-year license term.

Are there any CPA CPE credit type limits?

  • Instruction: Maximum 40 hours
  • Published Materials: Maximum 20 hours

Can CPA CPE course hours carry over to the next renewal cycle?

A maximum of 10 credit hours may be carried from one reporting period to the subsequent reporting period. Carried hours cannot be used to meet the accounting/auditing or ethics requirement.

What is the Vermont CPA license renewal process?

Renewal notices will be emailed to you 6 weeks prior to your license expiration date. Paper renewals are no longer available, so please verify the state has the proper email address. CPAs will complete the renewal application, attest to completing the CPE requirement and upload course completion certificates in the renewal, and pay the renewal fee.

What are the WebCE Vermont CPA CPE course requirements?

  • WebCE courses are NASBA QAS self-study with non-monitored open-book final exams. Students should read through course material then complete exam.
  • Passing score: 70%
  • If the final exam is not passed on the first attempt, students have an unlimited number of retakes.

What is the access period for WebCE Vermont CPA CPE courses?

12 months from the original date of purchase, unless otherwise posted on the course description page and student dashboard. Due to regulatory guidelines, access to courses CANNOT BE EXTENDED past 12 months from the original date of purchase.

How often does WebCE report Vermont CPA CPE course completions?

WebCE does not report CPE course completions to the Vermont Board of Public Accountancy.

Does WebCE supply a certificate of completion for Vermont CPA CPE courses?

Online PDF Certificates of completion are available to print immediately after the final exam is passed. CPAs should maintain written evidence of completion for a period of 5 years following the completion of each reporting activity.

Are there any CPE exemptions?

At the Board's discretion it may allow for exceptions to the requirements for renewal or reinstatement for reasons of individual hardship including health, military service, foreign residence, or other good cause.
