Are there any subject area requirements for Maine Real Estate CE?

All License Types

  • Commission Core Course : 3 CE hours
  • Electives: 18 CE hours
Core Course Requirement:

Effective April 1, 2025 the Real Estate Commission core course requirement is “Reasonable Care and Diligence Core Course.”

The course noted above is required if:

  • your license expiration date is on or after April 1, 2025 (even if you renew before April 1, 2025)
  • your license has expired and you renew on or after April 1, 2025
  • you activate a license on or after April 1, 2025
Licensees with a license expiration date prior to April 1, 2025, who renew prior to April 1, 2025, may fulfill their core course requirement with either the “Buyer Relationships Core Course” or the new core course as noted above.

When does Maine Real Estate CE have to be completed?

Every 2 years based on the issuance date.

Can Real Estate CE courses be repeated?

Courses cannot be repeated more than once in a 2 year license term.

Can Real Estate CE course hours carry over to the next renewal cycle?

No excess CE credit hours may be carried over to the next year's license term.

What is the Maine Real Estate license renewal process?

A license must be renewed online or by paper application on or (up to 60 days) before the expiration date in order for the licensee to conduct business without interruption. Renewal reminders are emailed to the email address on file at least 30 days prior to the license expiration date. Licensee must meet the continuing education requirement of 21 hours of Commission approved continuing education which includes the course designated as the current core course at the time of renewal.

What are the WebCE Maine Real Estate CE course requirements?

  • WebCE courses are classified as online distance education courses.
  • Students must read the course material and answer each set of end-of-chapter quizzes prior to taking an open-book non-monitored final exam
  • Exam passing score: 85%
  • If the final exam is not passed on the first attempt, students have an unlimited number of retakes.

What is the access period for WebCE Maine Real Estate CE courses?

A student shall complete the distance learning course within twelve (12) months of the date of enrollment in the course.

How often does WebCE report Maine Real Estate CE course completions?

WebCE does not report course completions to Maine.

Does WebCE supply a certificate of completion for Maine Real Estate CE courses?

Online PDF certificates of completion are available to print immediately after the final exam is passed. The licensee must keep a copy of each certificate of completion in his or her file for 4 years and provide proof of completion upon the Commission's request

What are the Maine Real Estate CE requirements for non-residents?

Non-resident license holders must complete the ME continuing education requirements including the 3 hours for the course designated as the core requirement at the time of renewal. However, they may submit an individual continuing education approval application and fee to the Commission for review of courses completed in other jurisdictions. If the courses are approved, the clock hours earned will apply toward continuing education requirement in Maine. NOTE: Students must receive notice of approval from the Commission before submitting a renewal application.
