What are the Adjuster Exam Prep requirements for Washington?

Washington does not require licensing candidates to complete prelicensing education; however, it is recommended to complete an exam prep course before attempting to take your state’s licensing exam.

How to get an insurance license in Washington

  1. Meet the general eligibility criteria
    • Be at least 18 years of age
    • Reside or maintain a principal place of residence in Washington.
  2. Meet the experience requirement through one of the following:
    • Successfully complete the Associate in Claims (AIC) Program.
    • Adjuster Trainee Program
    • Complete 12 consecutive months (part of which is in the current or previous year) working as a full-time, salaried insurance company or managing general agent (MGA) adjuster, verified by the insurance company or MGA in writing on business letterhead.
  3. Prepare for WA Adjuster State Licensing Exam
    • Use the WebCE Adjuster Exam Prep training course to better prepare you to pass the state licensing exam.
  4. Register and pass state licensing exam
    • Make an exam reservation at psiexams.com or by calling (855) 205-5825.
    • Bring two forms of current signature identification (a valid driver’s license, non-driver ID, passport, military ID, or employee ID card, credit card).
    • PSI is providing remotely proctored testing for the state of Washington. Students may register to have their licensing exam remotely proctored by visiting the PSI website.

  5. Apply for a License
    • After passing your licensing exam and submitting fingerprints, complete the insurance license application online at www.fortress.wa.gov.
  6. Submit fingerprints
    • Candidates DO NOT need to be fingerprinted BEFORE taking an exam. Candidates will need to apply with the state of Washington for their license once they pass the exam. The state of WA will instruct them on how to proceed for fingerprint requirement.

What are the WebCE Washington Adjuster Exam Prep course requirements?

  • Applicants must read each lesson before they can proceed to the next lesson.
  • WebCE suggests students pass the Exam Prep course exam with a score of 70% or higher.
Note:The WebCE WA Adjuster exam prep course is a training course only to prepare for the licensing exam. Please refer to the "How to Get a License" section for information on all the requirements that must be met to obtain the WA Adjuster license.

What is the access period for WebCE Washington Adjuster Exam Prep courses?

12 months from the original date of purchase.

How often does WebCE report Washington Adjuster Exam Prep course completions?

WebCE does not report exam prep course completions as the Washington Office of the Insurance Commissioner does not require course completions to be reported.

Does WebCE supply a certificate of completion for Washington Adjuster Exam Prep courses?

Online PDF certificates of completion are available to print immediately after passing the WebCE course exam. Certificates are for personal records and is not required for the state exam.

What is the process to obtain a non-resident insurance license in Washington?

  • If the home state of an applicant for an adjuster license does not issue an adjuster license, the applicant must pass this state's written adjuster examination.
  • If the home state of an applicant for a nonresident adjuster license does not issue an adjuster license but he or she has an active adjuster license as a nonresident in a state other than Washington that requires passing an examination, and he or she has taken and passed the examination and is in good standing with that state, the nonresident adjuster is deemed by the commissioner to have satisfied the examination required for adjusters in this state.
